Hello from the Lakadaisies Farm. I would not blame you for giving up on me. I really thought that I had published a blog after our daughters wedding, but I guess that I failed to do that. Anyway, a lot has happened in our world since my last blog. I will try to catch you up wth the skinny version of what has/is happening in our world.

We were at the Quilt Show in Jefferson, Texas in January. Our son Josh, texted that he was going to get married later that day. He had been engaged for a while and they were having trouble picking a date/venue etc. We would have liked to be there, but, our daughter, Ginny captured it on video for us.
She had been planning her own wedding for some time. She got married on our place in June. She wanted to get married under our oak trees so we had to “clean up” our act. It started raining a few days before the DAY, but cleared up just in time. Everything was perfect. We are so proud of all of our children and our new additions, Taryn and Wade. They have settled in now and seem to be very happy.

We have reopened our shop. We have it filled it with ANTIQUES and FOLK ART. Yes, many of Dolores’s originals are on display. She has even agreed to let a few go. We still have patterns for all of them and a large selection of WOOL. We are going to try to be open on weekends when we are home. Here are a couple of pictures of the inside.
Notice the ceiling. Everyone just loves it. Come and see for yourself.

Right now we are preparing to head to Florida for a quilt show in Jacksonville. The show dates on that one are Sept. 15-17 (our shop will be closed that weekend) and here is a link for more information. www.quiltfestjax.com/ . From there we travel up to Sevierville, Tennessee where Dolores is going to teach some classes with our good friends at The Cherry Pit Quilt Shop. You might be able to still sign up. Here is a link to their website: www.cherrypitquiltshop.com/ .

We are just fixing to “hit the road”, but Dolores wanted me to share these pictures of the Summer 2016 edition of Quiltmania’s “Simply Vintage” magazine. One of her designs is featured in this issue. Here is a picture of the cover.
It is The Autumn Sampler Coverlet, Stock #630. She made it back in 2014. You really need to see it in person. It is one of her "greatest hits" and we have sold a lot of patterns.

While supplies last, we have signed copies of both magazines available at our shop. Come by, call or email to get your copy.
I held off on posting this blog for a while. We were scheduled to be vendors at two shows in California. Dolores has been complaining about her back for about two weeks. It has bothered her, off and on, for a long time. Sometimes, a whole lot more so than others. Well, to make a long story short, we are not going to California. She has been laying up a lot. She sometimes gets a
little carried away. I was mowing the other day and she grabbed the mower and took off. I nearly had to carry her to bed. We really had our hearts set on the California shows. They are both put on by the Mancusco Brothers and they do a fantastic job. We hope that everyone has a wonderful time without us.
Dolores continues to work on new designs. I have pictures of a couple that I will post shortly. She overdoes it sometimes, I think, but I can’t stop her. Hopefully she will be ready for Houston.
I have got to run-
We had a wonderful time on our trip up North. Thanks to all of you who supported us at the Quilt Shows in Minnesota and Little Rock. We caught up with so many old
friends and made a whole lot of new ones.

We have made some changes to our schedule. We decided not to go to the show in San Diego. We hope that it is a good show for all. Instead, we have signed on to have a booth at two other shows in
California. Again, we are going to join the Mancusco Bros. For their Quiltfest Oasis Palm Springs. Show dates are October 8 - 10, 2015. It will be held at the Palm Springs Convention Center in
Palm Springs, California. We understand that this will be the second year for this event and we will do our best to help make it a wonderful show. From there we travel with the Mancusco Caravan to
Santa Clara for the Pacific International Quilt Festival XXIV. Show dates are October 15-18, 2015, and all the fun will be inside the Santa Clara Convention Center building. This one has a few years
experience, and we have heard a lot of good about it. It will be our first show in the “Bay Area”.
San Francisco here we come.

Also, Dolores is going to teach a class or two with our good friend Hannah (Hannah’ Quilts in Chourdrant, Louisiana) at her store.
Hello and greetings from the Lakadaisies Farm.

Well, we have a new sheriff in town. John Storm here. No major changes, so lets go. I hope that you enjoy my version.

First, I was just getting ready to post this when the flooding, and tornadoes started happening in Texas. I had to stop and make an addition. Our hearts go out to all who have lost so much-not just flooding and not just here in Texas, but all over the world. We especially feel for our friends at Wimberly, Texas. The last time we were there, Dolores gave a presentation to the Quilt Guild there. I felt that we made a whole lot of friends. It was a beautiful small town with such a nice feel. The
pictures we have been seeing are heartbreaking. Obviously, Mother Nature has her own way. I know that those that lost somebody are devastated. But, thank goodness that the loss of life has been small, compared to what it could have been. Also, hats off to not just the first responders, but all of those who are helping out with search and rescue/cleanup/food prep/delivery/donations, and whatever else needs to be done. I was watching the news on TV and earlier and I was especially impressed with all of the students who were out there cleaning up and “getting their hands dirty”.

Dolores is busy working on new designs. Her stint as a juror lasted about 2½ hours. I guess that the accused did not like the looks of the jury so he decided to put his life in the judge’s hands. Anyway, she has several new designs and here is a picture of one.

She actually needed a font for Happy Easter so I created this one. She liked it and now I am a font designer.

Our friend Hannah (Hannah’ Quilts-Chourdrant Louisana) came by on her way home from a Quilt Show and spent a couple of days with us. We had so much fun...we decided to just take a couple of days off. I even took two of my favorite girls to a chick flick. It was pretty good and I enjoyed it.

I have added a show, so here is our updated schedule. I am proud to announce that we will have the opportunity to join the fine folks at Hershey Pennsylvania for The Quilt Odyssey. Everyone says that it is a great show and we can hardly wait. The show dates for it are July 23, 24, 25, & 26. The show will be at the Hershey Lodge which is on Chocolate Avenue. Dolores got so excited.

And now, the rest of the story. First, we go north for The annual Minnesota Quilters' Show and Conference in Duluth. Our booth numbers are A17, 18 and the show dates are June 11, 12 & 13th. After that it is the NQA (National Quilt Association) Show in Little Rock Arkansas. Our booth numbers are 99 & 100, and the show dates are June 18, 19, and 20. Then we go to Hershey, and from there to Cape Cod for the Bayberry Quilter’s of Cape Cod Quilt Show. Show dates are July 30, 31,
and Aug. 1. Next on our tour is The World Quilt Show New England XII. in Manchester New Hampshire and the dates are Aug. 13, 14, & 15. I am still talkng to another Quilt Show or two but we always will be at Houston. The International Quilt Festival is always a great show. Show dates are Oct. 29, 30, 31, and Nov. 1 with a pre-view o Wed. night the 28th. Always a lot of fun.

We would love to meet, or visit with you at any of these shows.

I let her use my saying, and I will continue to recommend that we should all try to “enjoy life”Lakadaisieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14242072493431491734noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4224766082459038265.post-26961720724865180632015-04-27T20:47:00.001-05:002015-04-27T20:57:43.852-05:00

Down on the Lakadaisies Farm Blog # 47

Hello and Greetings from the Lakadaisies Farm. I realize that I cannot stop what I am doing to do a blog when I should, so I am going to hand off the ball to John. He is making me do this one, so he can do the next.

So much has happened on the Lakadaisies Farm. The most important, to me, was that my sweet beautiful angel, Quinnie, got bone cancer and we lost him. For those of you that don’t know, He was a beautiful 185 pound St. Bernard. He was my baby and I have been moping around the house for a while. It is not my goal to bring you down or anything like that. But, he will always have a special place in my heart and I sure do miss him.

We had a wonderful time at the Sewing and Stitchery Expo at Puyallup, Washington, and The A Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge Tennessee. I taught some classes at Pigeon Forge and we had a blast. I really enjoy sharing my knowledge and hope to do more classes and “Retreats” in the future. I hope that all of my students learned something and had fun too. I have been thinking about having one in Fredricksburg, Texas this Summer. Stay tuned.

Now, John has completed our schedule for at least the first part of 2015. We are cleaning up around the house and working on new designs for a few weeks. I had hoped to go to Quilt Market in May, but after several talks with our local County Clerk’s Office, it appears that it is either Jury Duty or Jail. I hate having to make tough decisions like that, so, Jury Duty it is, on my birthday. What a wonderful present. In June, we go North for The annual Minnesota Quilters' Show and Conference. This year it will be held in Duluth and the show dates are June 11, 12 & 13th. This will be the second
time that we have been to Duluth. They put on a really great show and we really liked it there. Then we turn around and head South for the NQA (National Quilt Association) Show. This year it will be held in Little Rock, Arkansas. They also do a great job and the show dates are June 18, 19, and 20.In July we are going to Cape Cod for the Bayberry Quilter’s of Cape Cod Quilt Show. It has been a few years but I really love it up there and I can hardly wait. Show dates are July 30, 31, and Aug. 1. Then we go even further North for the World Quilt Show New England XII. The Mancuso Brothers are putting it on and I was very impressed with them this winter in Florida. The show will be held in Manchester New Hampshire and the dates are Aug. 13, 14, & 15. Then it is Out West for the San Diego Quilt Show. Show dates are Sept. 10, 11, & 12. John is still thinking about another Quilt Show or two and there is always the International Quilt Festival in Houston to look forward to.

Again, I would like to thank Carol and the crew at Quiltmania. They put my design “The Curious Little Chicken” in the Spring 2015 issue of Simply Vintage. Here is a picture of it.

Hello Everyone and Greetings from the Farm

It is amazing to me how quickly we have become so dependent on the internet. It seems like it was yesterday when we first heard about it. Now it is so everything. Ours went out about a month ago and it was horrible. Anyway, enough of that, I apologize for not blogging sooner-but...

My Thanksgiving was wonderful and I hope that everyone else had an equally nice day. I am so thankful that we have plenty. I wish that the whole world had enough. Don’t get me started. I wish that hunger was eliminated and while I am at it...Peace on Earth....There I said it. Also, I hope that you had a Merry Christmas and are enjoying a Happy New Year.

First, I would like to invite you to join Hannah and I for a weekend of fun and classes in Temple, Texas. Valentines Day Weekend-$300 (housing, classes & meals included) Feb. 13, 14, & 15th. 2015. Join us if you can.

We just got back from South Florida. I just feel like that I am home when I cross the state line and it was so nice and warm. Highs in the 80s mostly. It was a wonderful show-again thanks all. And then Hannah and I and a few friends had a wonderful fews days on the Emerald Coast.
Got to relax and just take it easy.

Actually, right now, I am headed for Jefferson Texas for the 12th Annual Jefferson Quilt Show “Quilts on the Bayou. Show dates are January 23-25, 2015. Also, we are hoping to “show off our stuff”(be vendors) at the The Sewing & Stitchery Expo in Puyallup, Washington. Show dates are
February 26 - March 1, 2015. After that we go to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee where we have a booth and teach a class or two at the A Mountain Quiltfest. Show dates are March 18-21, 2015. More show dates to be announced soon. Contact us for details.

Again, I would like to thank Carol and the crew at Quiltmania. They put my design “Snowman” on the back cover of their Special Winter 2014 issue of Quiltmania. They do such a good job. It felt so different to see it on the magazine instead of in my booth. I did it several years ago and it is such a big hit at every show we do. Here is a picture
They also put my design “Vintage Christmas” in the Winter 2014 issue of Simply Vintage. Here is a picture of it.

Carol also picked out four new ones for upcoming editions. I am so happy that they like my work enough to feature it in their magazines. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them and you for all of the support.

As always Enjoy Life

Hello and greetings from the Lakadaisies Farm.

It is so nice to be able to relax. Nothing major on my plate until Thanksgiving, which is 4 days away. My nephew, Skip and his wife Janie have invited our family to their house. We are looking forward to having a wonderful time.

John and I just returned from Victoria, Texas. I gave a speech of sorts and taught some classes. They treated us just like family. We had such a wonderful time, we really hated to leave. Girls...I am sending you out a big hug and a huge thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Oh, and I want to thank everyone who came by our booth at The International Quilt Festival in Houston. I really appreciate your kind words and support. It was a wonderful show - we got to catch up with so many old friends and made so many new ones.

Carol (from Quilt Mania) came by and liked several of our new designs. She wanted to visit my home and shop and maybe take a few pictures before the Houston show, but John wasn’t ready. She said a few choice words to him in French and then gave us both a big hug. John promised her that he would be ready next year. She picked out four designs to put in one of her magazines next year. So, I am sending out a big thank you to Carol and all of her staff. You make my designs look so good and for that, I am thankful. Thank you for putting off our photo shoot..I will make sure John puts the Shop back together in time for the next one...

I decided to take the weekend off. I just sat around, sewed, cooked and watched football...John says I do that every day....but... I don’t. I hardly ever watch football. Today, it is back to the old grind. We have a long list of things to do. I am going to work on my workshop. Then, I will be able to give classes at home and work on my designs without taking over my entire house. John has to put the shop back together...He promised. So...he will do it...

Next up for the Road Warriors (Team Lakadaisies) - We are Southbound. South Florida to be specific. To be even more specific, Palm Beach in January. I haven’t been home in so long, I can hardly wait. The Mancusco Brothers are hosting the World Quilt Show Florida VI, January 8-10 at the Palm Beach Convention Center. Here is a link for more info http://www.quiltfest.com/activities.asp?id=36 . I should have enough time to design a few things before the show.

From there I have a few days to get to GRAYTON BEACH FLORIDA. My good friend Hannah (Hannah’s Quilts) and I have rented a large beach house and we still have a little room for a few friends. I told you about it in my last blog. From there we go straight to Jefferson Texas to show off our stuff at the 12th Annual, Jefferson Quilt Show ‘Quilts on the Bayou’, January 23-25, 2015. I can’t wait to see what Edris and Vickie and the other girls have cooked up. It is always a wonderful show and they really know how to take care of their vendors. Here is a link to their website
http://www.jeffersonquiltshow.com/ .

Next up is our Retreat in Temple, Texas. I know that I told you about it in my last blog, but again, I would like to invite you to come have some fun with us.

I am pretty sure that we will be at Puyallup, Washington-they wanted me to teach but I don’t think that John can handle the booth alone - it is always so busy there. But, I am scheduled to give a few classes at Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I will tell you more about that in my next blog. Right now I have to get back to just sitting around and having fun.

Just remember to (as always) enjoy life
Whew, we just got home after three shows in a
row. I would like to give a big “Thank
You” to all of you who supported me at all three shows. I felt a lot of love and I really appreciate
it. All the shows were busy. We got to visit with so many old friends and
made so many new ones. Again, a big
“Thank You” to all who have supported me through the years.

My schedule just gets better and better. First, I would like to invite you to join us
at the International Quilt Festival in Houston.
The show starts Wed. Night
Oct. 29th with a preview night and
concludes on Sunday Nov. 2. For more information, here is a link to the
website; http://www.quilts.com/home/shows/viewer.php?page=FallFestival
. Our booth number is 847. I have
several exciting new designs, and lots of vintage and hand-dyed wool. As many of you may remember, last year, my
index finger on my right hand was not functioning properly due to an untimely
accident. I am happy to report that all
of fingers as of now, are OK. Hopefully,
John will not have to set up the booth like he did last year. It was nice to see him work for a change, but
I am keeping my fingers crossed.

After Houston, I will be giving workshops in
Redwork Embroidery and Wool Applique for the members of the Victoria Texas
Quilt Guild. I think that the dates for
that are Nov. 20 and 21st. I am pretty sure that anyone can sign up, but
I am not sure who is in charge. I am
sure that Janie can point you in the right direction. Here is her email: cimrhanzl@gvec.net

I am also very excited about the Retreats that my
friend Hannah (Hannah’s Quilts) and I are planning to host in 2015. I will give you a little info and you can
contact Hannah or I for more.

Florida just sounds so warm in January. I can almost feel the the sand beween my
toes. We have a great big beach house all to ourselves for a whole week in the
Seaside area. We will not be giving classes at this retreat. We will be working
on our own projects and Hannah and I will be available to help you with
yours. If you have purchased a kit from
me or Hannah and maybe you just need a little nudge-bring it.

And then, we have a whole weekend in Temple, Texas
in February-Valentine’s Day Weekend-John recommends it as the perfect Vday
gift-he should know. He says that “at
least it should be warmer than most of the rest of the USA/Canada”. We would love for you to join us for a lot of
good food, fun, and classes. I am giving classes on Redwork Embroidery, Wool
Applique, and Rug Hookng. Hannah is going to teach a class showing everyone how
to make a Wedge Wheel Quilt using Kaffe fabric.
And, my daughter Ginny is going to give classes on her bookfolding.

I almost forgot to tell you about the Autumn 2014
edition of Quiltmania’s Simply Vintage magazine. Two of my designs are featured in it. Again,
another big “Thank You” to Caroline and the whole staff at Quiltmania. I hope
to have a few copies at Houston.

I have several things to share with you this time. Magazines, Block of the Month, and Farm News.

I will start with the Farm News. Well, John’s Garden has finally “got it going on” at least the Tomato part. I don’t know how he does it, but we are starting to bake (100̊ or close) and his tomato plants look like they love it. They are truly delicious and we finally have enough to give some away. He always has too many and, to me, it is about time. Here is a picture I took.

Yes, they are as good as they look. He says that his squash is taking off and we will be enjoying it real soon.

Oh, and I just finished Block #2 of my Block of the Month Quilt. I know that I just barely got it done “under the wire”(the first of the month), but I have been so busy with my new Santa Quilt that I did not want to stop. (I will have pictures of Santa soon-a few hints- he is big and he is “good looking”) I thought that the BOM turned out well and here is a picture of it.

I think that it will work well as a stand alone item, but that will be up to you. Patterns are available directly from me for $12.00 plus tax/shipping. Call or email me at lakadaisies@hotmail.com.

One more thing. Two of my designs (Simple Pleasures and my Miniature Dandelion Quilt) are featured in the latest edition of Quilt Mania’s “Simply Vintage” Magazine. It is truly a high quality magazine and I am proud that they like my work well enough to put it in their magazine. I would like to take this opportunity to say “thank you” to everyone at Quilt Mania.
Hello
Greetings from the Lakadaisies Farm. I have a lot to share with you this time. A Retreat and a block of the month. Yes, I have decided to do a Block of the Month Quilt and have a Retreat.

Here is a picture of the first block.

Patterns are available now for $12.00 plus tax/shipping. Email or call

My friend Hannah (of Hannah’s Quilts) and I are hosting a retreat, and we would like to invite you to attend. It will be on Valentine’s Day Weekend (Feb 12th – 15th, 2015 – sounds like a perfect Valentine’s Day Gift to me!). We are planning on having a few classes, a small merchant mall for your sewing needs, and mostly…a lot of FUN!

We found this wonderful venue that is all set up to handle 30 campers, and as many as 10 day-trippers. It is a little bit in the country, close to the city of Temple, Texas – not too far from the Lakadaisies Farm, and a few hours from Dallas, Austin, Houston, & San Antonio. It also has major airports nearby in Temple, Killeen, and Waco.

Hannah and I both love to cook, so we have decided to cook all of the meals We will only call in John if we really need him (he can flip a pretty mean Burger/BBQ etc.) Hannah’s store is in Chourdant, Louisiana, and she wears a chef’s apron that she got down in Lafayette, Louisiana (the Cajun capital of the world). I can smell that gumbo from here. I specialize in Tex-Mex, German, and Irish. So...come for the food if nothing else! But there is more...classes galore, and one-on-one advise/help from both Hannah and myself.

In my opinion, everyone needs more fun, so I will teach fun classes on Wool Applique, Redwork Embroidery, and Rug Hooking. Hannah will show you how to make a Wedge Wheel Quilt with a ruler using Kaffe Fabrics. These classes will be geared for everyone –from beginners to advanced level stitchers.

Oh, and my daughter Ginny has informed me that she will be available on Saturday to teach a book folding class. You may have seen some of her work in one of my booths or in Quiltmania’s Simply Vintage magazine. Here is a link to her website: www.ginstorm.net

We would like to host retreats all over the US and Canada; we’re looking for a really great place in your part of the world. If anyone else has any suggestions, please let me know, or if you already have a group, we would love to work with you. Please email us for more information and join our emailing list, in our booth or online. We promise not to overwhelm you with emails – only when we have something important to say.

John & I have visited with so many people at our recent Quilt Shows that had wonderful suggestions that we are absolutely overwhelmed the problem is that have misplaced most of our notes. We would really appreciate it if you would please submit ideas again.

More information soon, so, as always, enjoy life ds.Lakadaisieshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14242072493431491734noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4224766082459038265.post-56032308140418140892014-05-09T13:09:00.000-05:002014-05-09T13:09:12.461-05:00Down on the Lakadaisies Farm Blog # 41Down on the Lakadaisies Farm Blog # 41
Hello again from the coolest spot on earth-the Lakadaisies Farm. A breezy 78 , we got that nice rain. It is amazing, nearly instantly, everything is so pretty and green. Right now it is too wet to work outside, so I thought I will write another blog. The bad thing is, we are still in a bad drought.

John brought it to my attention that I promised two pictures of the "tiny dancers" so here is another.

They are so beautiful. I can’t decide whether I like them best in the winter when they still have light tan leaves that really stand out or when they are blooming. More research is required.

And while I am at it -here are a few pics of my booth at the AQS Quilt Show at Paducah Kentucky.
Hello from the coolest spot on earth-the Lakadaisies Farm. A breezy 96 , the sun is shining, and rain is on the way-we hope. We are still in a bad drought.

First, I would like to thank all of you for your continued support. Without it I know I could have never flown to the heights I have acheived. We had a wonderful show at Paducah Kentucky. We saw some wonderful old houses, for sale, that I just loved. Also, the Dogwood trees were in bloom. I have been watching them "dance" in the forest through the car window as we speed along the highway. They look like tiny dancers to me-little small trees dancing, surrounded by the large trees of the forest. I got John to stop the car, a lot.....all day.... so I could take pictures. Here are a couple

Yes, Paducah Kentucky I might just move there if it just wasn’t quite so far north(cold). We really enjoyed the hospitality. It seems to be the norm now-we meet so many nice new friends and we get to catch up with so many old ones. I love it.

Our friend Hannah, the owner of Hannah’s Quilts is recovering from her stay in the hospital. She gave us quite a scare but she is recuperating OK now. She assures that-SHE IS BACK-OR RATHER-SHE NEVER LEFT. She and I are planning on doing a "retreat" this upcoming winter in Florida.

Anyway, John has finally finalized our schedule. We have decided to vend at the upcoming Minnesota Quilters' Show and Conference which will be held at St. Cloud this year. The show dates this year are June 12-14, 2014. Here is a link to their website www.mnquilt.org . From there we are going to Chicago again. The fine folks at Quilts Inc. are having a party and they are calling it The International Quilt Festival/Chicago. The show dates for it are June 19-21, 2014 and here is a link www.quilts.com . That pretty much takes care of June. Not sure about July and August, but I am hoping to get the remodels done. Then in September, we will be at shows in Austin, and Springfield Missouri, and Longmont Colorado. I will let you know more when I know more.

Oh, and he has decided to remodel our store. I wanted to move the building to our backyard and use it for "workshops". That sounded like too much work to him so he is planning on opening the shop on some weekends or by appointment. The shop is located on the Lakadaisies Farm so he can walk to work everyday. And l am going to remodel the garage for my "workshops". We are taking a small break after Chicago to get these things done.

Right now, we are working on raised beds in our garden. And landscaping beds in the yard. We are using rocks. They are heavy. They were given to us by John’s cousin, "thank you Tom" . I keep singing "breakng rocks in the hot sun" . Everything is lookng pretty good. Oh, how lucky can you get-it is raining. That is great-we need the rain and I get to goof off.

Hello everyone from the farm.

I just get so caught up in everything. I am working on a new design and getting ready to go to Paducah, please do not lose patience with me. I know I promised more blogs, anyway... I will do a short one...because a promise is a promise.

The three shows we just did seem like a blur. John got sick on the way to Puyallup and I had to drive through LA. John was feeling good enough to navigate and we sailed right around. Driving through LA is one of my least favorite things and I am glad it is behind me. I got sick on the way home and didn’t even tell John to slow down once, in the mountains. Anyway, all the shows were so busy. We got to visit with so many old friends and made so many new ones. A big "Thank You" to all who have supported me through the years.

We got so far behind on orders from the three shows I kept looking for a place to hide, but Quinnie kept finding me. Now we are caught up-we just finished dyeing some wool for a lady in Washington. ...YES...all of the kits are shipped out-I even made a few extra for Paducah.

I haven’t had much time to think, but that did not keep me from churning out three new designs. Here is a picture of "Fireworks on the Fourth of July"

I started working on it right before Puyallup. Patterns and kits will be available at Paducah. I still have several designs in my head that I haven’t had time to get out. I will do something about that after Paducah. John is still screaming about the other new ones. I even talked him into doing kits for the last one. He hates it when I give him new ones right before a show. (such a good reason to do it and all the more fun for me)

And, I almost forgot to tell you about the latest edition of Quiltmania’s Simply Vintage magazine. The back cover looks pretty cool because it has one of my designs on it. Again, another big "Thank You" to Caroline and the whole staff at Quiltmania. Everybody is still talking about our "Catch a Falling Snowflake" design which recently graced the cover. I will have a few copies of both at Paducah.

Anyway, please join us at the AQS Quiltweek at Paducah, if you can. The show dates are Wed. April 23 through 26. Here is a link to their website; http://aqsshows.com/ . We will be in the "Bubble" or the pavilion and our booth numbers are 4305 & 7. I have several new designs, and lots of vintage and hand-dyed wool and ribbon.

I haven’t had a whole lot of "me" time lately, so I talked John into buying me some tomatoes and peppers and squash to plant. He had to help me as I have the brownest of brown thumbs. I can almost taste those vine ripened sun kissed tomatoes already..and I bought grey pumpkin seeds. John has promised to not cut the water off again like he did the last time. He claimed that my pumpkins were "taking over" his garden-such a prima donna.

Right now, I have to go--see you in Paducah.

Hello, I hope that the new year is a good one for all. I did not realize that it had been such a long time since I wrote a blog. I know I have made this promise before, but I really mean it this time and John said that he is ready to KMT(kick my tush).
I promise to write blogs more often.

We just got back from Jefferson, Texas-it was fantastic. We felt so much love. Again, my hat goes off to the board of directors for the Jefferson Quilt Show. They do a whole lot of work and take on a lot of worry. Just because they love it.

Our quilt show buddies are in Phoenix, right between two shows, and we are at home fixing to watch the superbowl. I did get through with my new sampler coverlet, and here is a picture of it.

And, John made a trade with Ginny’s boyfriend, to do a new website. We are gonna make it real cool with neat wallpaper and pictures. The old one is open right now but we hope to have the new one done soon. Also, we are going to do a email newsletter. I heard John talk a customer into signing-up. He promised not to overwhelm her with a bunch of junk. You can sign -up now if you would like.

Well, he finally finalized our schedule-at least for the first part of the year. Next show for me is the 30th Anniversary of the Sewing and Stitchery Expo to be held at Puyallup, Washington. This year the show dates are Feb. 27, 28, Mar. 1, and 2. If you need more info, here is a link to their website: /https://www.sewexpo.com/ .We loved it there last year and can’t wait to get back. John really liked the way it smelled up there last year. I don’t know what he is talkng about.

Next, it is back to Texas for the Quilt Celebration 2014 - "Modern Quilts", which is put on by the Quilt Guild of Dallas. The show dates are March 7 – 9, and here is a link to their website:

Then I get a couple of weeks to catch my breath and then we go to Beautiful Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, to join the fine folks there as A Mountain Quiltfest, celebrates it’s 20th year. The show dates are Mar. 19-22 and here is a link to their website
And, I am pretty sure that we will be at the American Quilt Society’s Quilt Week at Paducah, Kentucky 2014 April 23 – 26 for their 30th anniversary celebration. Here is a link to their website ; http://aqsshows.com/AQSPaducah/
Hello. I hope that you and yours all had a Happy Thanksgiving. We certainly did. All of our children and a few friends were able to join us for a wonderful day. Our daughter, Ginny came early to help with the preparation and everyone else brought food/drinks/etc. We had the traditional Turkey. John smoked it for a little while and he said that if he had to fire up the pit, he was going to cook a brisket. Both turned out to be delicious.

I am trying to stay busy. My finger still hurts when I hit it on something. That only happens a few times a day. I don’t sit and do nothing very well, so I just started on a new coverlet.

Oh and, right before Turkeyday we got our copies of Quilt mania’s Simply Vintage. Our daughter, Ginny’s folded books are on the cover-just like we were told. She is still taking orders, so get yours in. We had three designs also featured. All of these are in the Winter 2013 edition of Simply Vintage.

I am still excited about being on the cover of Quilt mania, I meant to put a picture on the last blog, but I didn’t, so, here is a picture.
I thought John did a nice job-I only had to tell him what to do a million times.

Right now, he is working on our schedule for the next year. So far, he has us going to Jefferson, Texas for the 11th annual Jefferson Quilt Show "Quilts on the Bayou". I love this show and it will be held at the Cyprus Valley Education Center. The show dates are: January 24, 25 and 26 of 2014. Join us there if you can. He keeps mumbling something about Puyallup, Washington and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. And I am pretty sure that we will be at the Dallas Quilt Show in March. I will let you know more when I know.
Hello. First, I would like to thank everyone who came by my booth at the International Quilt Festival in Houston. We "caught up" with so many old friends and made so many new ones. It was so much fun and I am so tired.

It was a real roller coaster ride. We checked into our motel and I told John that he needed to be real careful in the shower as the floor was very slick. Well, I woke him up the next morning with a bang. Yes, I fell in the shower. Fortunately, I was able to "break" my fall with my hand. Of course, one of my fingers did not fare so well. It is broken and in a splint. John has been telling everyone that I will be out of commission for a couple of days(huh). That was the low spot of the ride. We still needed to set up the booth, so I left John to do his magic and went to check on my friends at the Quilt mania booth. I had already heard that my design "Catch a Falling Snowflake" was on display in their booth at Quilt Market and I wanted to see if they were ready to let me have it back. I was greeted by the owner/editor, Carol. She handed me a copy of her latest magazine. My design is gracing the cover. I was so excited I nearly forgot that I had just broke my finger. She said that the staff voted on it and everybody just loved my design. It seems that it touches a lot of people. I am deeply touched and would like to thank Carol and the whole staff at Quilt mania and everyone else for the support. John went running around telling everybody that we made the cover of the Rolling Stone. He said something about wanting 5 copies.

Carol also picked out 5 more designs for future issues. And, she also told us that our daughter, Ginny’s folded books are on the cover of the latest issue of her Simply vintage magazine.

Well, my finger is killing me--got to go---just remember always---enjoy life--- -----ds
Hello everyone from the farm. I missed telling you a few things on my last blog, and I apologize for that. I am inserting links for your convenience.

I would love to extend a "thank you" to all of you who came by our booth at the Quilt Expo in Madison Wisconsin, and the American Quilters Society Quilt Show in Des Moines, Iowa. They were both great shows and we love both cities.
We got to reconnect with so many old friends and make so many new ones. In Des Moines, we ate dinner at a local restaurant, and here is a picture of our friend, Sam Winover of Two Sisters Quilting, "wrestling with our dinner" which was taken before we could enter the front door. We love to get a little bit of local flavor when we can.

I would like to take my hat off to our friend, Jan Heddinger. She is still doing her Junk Jubilee thing in Des Moines. It sounds like so much fun, that John is even thinking about going. He doesn’t normally go North in the winter, so we will see.

We really missed going to Longmont, Colorado, but we felt that they made the right choice when the Colorado Quilting Council cancelled the show. It appeared that the flooding devastated the entire area. Our hearts go out to all who have lost so much, not just in Colorado, but all over the world.

We are getting ready for the International Quilt Festival. It will be held at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. The show dates are October 31 through November 2. Those in the know, will not miss the Special Pre-View Night on October 30. Our booth number is 759. Be sure and come by for a trick or a treat. I have several new designs, as well as a lot of vintage and hand-dyed wool and ribbon.

So much has been happening. Quilt Mania Magazine emailed and wanted my design, #610 (Catch a Falling Snowflake) for their November/December magazine. And, they wanted two other designs and one of Ginny’s books for the Winter edition of their Simply Vintage magazine which is now available in English.

Right now, I have to go--see you in Houston.
I must be having too much fun. I failed to tell everyone that we were going to Grand Rapids, Michigan to show off at the AQS Quilt Show which was held on August 14-17. Sorry about that. Anyway, it is a beautiful city and it was a good show for us. We met so many nice people.

I really have been busy. I have been having trouble finding the “right” colors for my Wool Applique, so I started Hand Dyeing my wool. It is hard work, but I just love seeing the colors come to life. The Wool was a “hit” at Grand Rapids and I hope to have it available on the web site real soon.

John decided to “do” the Sew Original & Creative Expo. It will be held at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky, Aug. 30-Sept. 1. He said that it would work real well to go from there to the Quilt Expo 2013. It will be held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin, Sept. 5-7. I like that name. Maybe I can get some more energy there. Sometimes, I think that he is trying to kill me. Well, they say that if it doesn’t kill you it will make you stronger-lets hope.

I would love to meet and visit with you at either one or both of these shows.
I just have time for a "quicky". We received some wonderful rain yesterday and it is still raining today. We really needed it and it looks like that the whole region is receiving some.

The Creative Quilters Guild of Ellis County, Texas had a cancellation at their 2013 Quilt Show and we are joining them as they present A WORLD OF COLOR July 19 and 20, 2013, at the Midlothian Conference Center in Midlothian, Texas (DFW area). Show hours both days are from 10 am to 5pm.

We are not even taking time to unload-just restock. Come by and see us if you can.

On another note, we had a lot of fun at Temple and are working on setting up some classes for some ladies that visited with us there. Call or email for information. And, I just got my latest Quilt Mania magazine with one of my designs in it. I thought that it was going to be in their Simply Vintage magazine. I am never sure what they are going to do. Anyway, it is the "Special" summer 2013 issue of Quilt Mania in ENGLISH. It should be in the magazine racks real soon.
Whew, we are busy recovering from the last shows and getting ready for the next show. It was not exactly three shows in a row, but it was awfully close. We met a lot of nice folks at all three shows.

We have been to Virginia and Chicago several times and knew what to expect. We have been to Minnesota also, but never to Duluth. What a beautiful city. We thought that we were in San Francisco or maybe Seattle. Especially, when we were driving straight up those mountains from Lake Superior to our motel. It makes you appreciate automatic tranmissions.

We joined some of our very good vendor friends, Sam Winover from Two Sisters Quilting and Hannah Lee from Hannah’s Quilts in Kansas City. From there we had a little "rolling tailgate party" all the way to Duluth. John was the leader and he definately got some lessons on how to lead. He thought that he would show them how to follow. I got a pretty good laugh out of that. We had a little more fun on the trek from Duluth to Chicago. We had three days to go 468 miles. We, of course, got off the main road and had a blast. John finally figured out how to lead, and that was good. So here we are, three cars pulling into every antique store we can find in the tri-state area. I really love the food in Chicago. We had a couple of "new restaurants" recommended and they were both good, but we had to eat three meals in our favorite Polish buffet (Old Warsaw). It was great as always. We have not eaten everywhere and we welcome any challenges.

Now, it is easy to have fun when you are assembling kits and labeling pieces of wool. Getting ready for our next show in nearby Temple, Texas where The Wildflower Quilt Guild presents "Let Freedom Ring" Quilt Show. The show dates are July 12 and 13 and it will be held at the Frank Mayborn Convention Center, 3303 N. 3rd, in Temple, Tx. Show hours are 9:00AM - 5:00PM. Come and see us if you can.

John is busy printing and claims that he is going to mow the grass. It is hot, but we are enjoying a small break from the usual 100 + temperatures. I hope that it lasts for at least a little while.

Well, I better go see if I can get his motor running.
All is well on the farm. We are getting ready to leave for the 40th ANNIVERSARY QUILT SHOW, "Fabulous at Forty" May 31 -June 2, 2013 at the Dulles Expo and Conference Center in Chantilly, Virginia. From there we have a few days to “freshen up”. Then it is off to the Minnesota Quilters, Inc. 35th Annual Quilt Show and Conference, June 13-15, 2013, Duluth, Minnesota.

Wow, I did not realize that both of those shows had so much history. John says it is just a “hop, skip, and a little jump down to Chicago. He is always saying stuff like that. Anyway, we will be vendors at the International Quilt Festival Chicago 2013, June 21-23, 2013 with Preview Night June 20, at Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois.

We will be showing a few new redwork designs along with some wool applique. We loaned one of our coverlets ”Grandmother’s Legacy” to Quilt Mania so they could feature it in an upcoming issue of their new magazine “Simply Vintage”. It is only printed in French and available directly from them. They featured five designs in a past issue and we got them to send us a few copies. We couldn’t read them but they had really good pictures. It is a lot of fun working with them and I hope they get that coverlet back to us in time to take with us to these shows. I guess time will tell.

I would like to invite you to come by my booth and visit at one of these shows. John promised me he would be on his best behavior. I will try to keep him on a short leash.
We hope to do a show in your part of the world soon. More about them when I know for sure.
Happy Mother' day. I am sitting here enjoying the quiet. Two of my children (Josh & Ginny), their girlfriend/boyfriend (Taryn & Wade) and 3 grandpuppies were here for the weekend. We had lots of hugs, food, and fun. Quinn (our sweet little, loveable puppy) gave everyone hugs, excluding the other dogs and promptly went to bed. He did get excited when Ginny and Wade left...He kind of bonded with Wade and thought for a moment, when the leash came out, that he was going to his Ginny's house. When that didn't happen, he was clearly disappointed for a minute...then decided he would just go to bed.

Now we are back to quiet. I need to get some kits made for our next shows. Our next one is in Chantilly, Virginia-May 31 and June 1 & 2. Then we catch our breath before heading north to Duluth Minnesota- June 13, 14 & 15, and from there it is on to Chicago-June 19-23. I would love to visit with you at one or more of our booths at any of these shows.

If you didn't get the kit you wanted in Paducah and didn't order at the show....We have them now, but since I only make them for shows...they are on a first come basis.(call 512 556 3019 or email us at lakadaisies@hotmail.com

The weather is quite warm here in Texas, the wildflowers are wonderful, and I am hoping for a rainy summer...In all of our travels, it seems to be raining, but we still are dry in Texas....so...I am hoping to bring some back with us when we come home.
We just sent off our GrandMother's Legacy coverlet to France for an upcoming issue of Quilt Mania's "Simply Vintage", along with another design. We hope to have them back with us before the show in Chantilly at the end of the Month....The coverlet was a big success in Paducah...Speaking of Paducah....It was a really nice show, Thanks all-
especially Bonnie and Laurie. We ran into several old friends and made so many new ones. We really enjoyed everything, apart from the rain and the Porta Potties-That were actually outside in the rain (not sure where I expected them to be)....We stayed in a really nice hotel and the dogwood trees were in bloom....so nice....and the wonderful old houses and buildings along the Ohio River are some of my favorites...John said “Let’s go over into Illinois”. The tall, narrow bridge over the Ohio River.......noper....gonna have to say...I do not recommend that to the faint of heart.....I still get goose bumps thinking of it...

John is working on finalizing our schedule for the rest of the year. I know that we are going to have a booth at the Quilt Show, right down the road in Temple, Texas in July. He has also mentioned such places as Grand Rapids, Long Beach, Des Moines, and Madison, Wisconsin. I think that he has also been talking to some people in Atlanta and Florida. I will let you know as soon as I know.
I did not realize that it has been so long since my last blog. I have been busy. We recently got home from the Quilt expo in Puallup, Washington and then the AQS show in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Both were great shows and it was quite a long trip. I would like to say a quick "thank you" to all of the wonderful people who made me feel at home in all of my travels.

We had a new edition of Quilt Mania’s "Simply Vintage" magazine waiting for us when we got home..The Spring addition... #6. We have one of our designs featured in it from our Hand me Down series. The Appliqued Sampler #608, it is on the back cover as well. We have just sent off a new design to them and we just arranged to send them another coverlet when we get back from Paducah. I have been busy getting ready for the big AQS show in Paducah, Kentucky.

When I think of Paducah, I have to smile. We were at a small guild show in Fort Lauderdale, Florida many moons ago....just starting out on the quilt show circuit....so very naive....when Bonnie, the president of the AQS came to our booth. She must have liked it because she asked if we would be interested in doing the AQS show in Paducah, if a booth became available......Well, I was so ignorant about things then...I had no idea who or what the AQS was or where Paducah was...John said he thought it was in Texas....somewhere.......

We of course said yes, not wanting to appear the clueless newbie..so in a little while we were off to Paducah and right away we found out we were out of our comfort zone....definately not in Kansas anymore. We had a wonderful show....Thank you Bonnie.

We were immediately bullied by other venders about not paying our dues.....I had no idea what dues they were talking about....again...ignorant.....John said we would pay them later. That was in 2002, and we are heading back to Paducah in a few days. I am hoping that John has paid the dues ? If not, I guess that he will have to pay them later. We hope to see you there. The dates are April 24-27. We will be in the Bubble? I am hoping also for good weather...the last time we were there we had a huge rain storm with tornados all around. We had to drive an hour and a half just to sleep at a fish camp....and wait a minute.....John says we will still be driving two hours to and from but....this time I am not staying at a fish camp...they were booked...not kidding.... I am trying to stay positive....I will not be a baby about this....I am a seasoned quilt show vendor now, I am a professional and I know to bring along several bottles of wine...just in case...oh, and chocolate..... no seasoned quilt show vendor goes anywhere without the essentials...
